TEHRAN – The spokesman of the Combatant Clergy Association said on Monday Ayatollah Movahedi Kermani had been elected to lead the entity’s the elections committee, according to Tasnim. 

“Ayatollah Movahedi Kermani was elected as the head of the elections committee during the last session of the body,” said Qolamreza Mesbahi Moqaddam. 

Iran will hold its next presidential and city and village councils elections in May 2017. 

“We are due to form the elections committee during the next session,” the spokesman further said.
